Description

Join our staff of experienced riders for a week on the trails. Campers will develop beginner and intermediate mountain biking skills including: steering, shifting, hill climbing and descending, log hopping, dodging obstacles, etiquette, maintenance, safety and more. Campers will ride in the morning, have a midday lunch/activity break, then get back on the bikes in the afternoon for more trail exploration!

Campers are placed in groups of beginner, intermediate, and advanced to ensure they are riding with campers of the same ability level.

Bikes and Helmets are provided, but campers are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike. We find it very beneficial for campers to ride a bike they are already comfortable on!

Campers should know how to ride a bike before signing up for this camp.

Plans for the week:

Monday: Games: Cone Slalom, No Toes, Slow Race Goals: Go over Challenge by Choice philosophy, Leave No Trace, and camp rules; assess rider skill levels.

Tuesday: Games: Cone Slalom, No Toes Goals: Review and reinforce basic skills from the previous day; introduce campers to different trail features; reinforcement of Challenge by Choice.

Wednesday: Games: none Goals: Apply their skills to a long, cross country style ride.

Thursday: Games: none Goals: Get wet; focus on challenge by choice and LNT

Friday: Games: none Goals: Introduce campers to more advanced trails and elements; round out the week with some memorable riding moments.

Campers will most likely ride at FountainHead Regional Park, Laurel Hill Equestrian Center, Meadowood Park, as well as trails along the GCCCT. This list will be added to as we are modifying our trail riding locations for the summer!
